Feeling Good Has To Do With Synergy ….

Dear friends in Kefi,

Happy Spring, just about. I’ve missed sharing my experiences with you, so it’s time to amp up my frequency and start writing more regularly.  Today, I want to impart my wellness results and how I attained them.

Feeling good has much to do with nutrition, movement, sleep, living balance and the synergy of these.  Beginning with food, I am so excited about it these days, but that is not the way I used to be.  Now, my enthusiasm stems from the miraculous benefits of eating earthy or real foods that nourish, strengthen and improve my body and my mind.  It’s very rewarding to be able to eat sensibly and naturally to achieve a strong and more productive human machine!  We Americans are saddled with so much processed food, which is prepared & saturated with the most terrible fillers. You wonder why our stomachs are bloated, our feet are swollen, our skin is saggy and our breath smells.  lol – ok maybe our breath doesn’t smell, but when we eat un-natural food, we are paying the price with our physical and mental health.

Speaking of mental, late last year I learned and I realized that a healthy body is a result of how one THINKS.  We choose what to eat, we decide how much to eat, we consider or not, the ramifications of food all day long.  Our brain dictates how we view and ingest food.  So, thinking about what I will eat and how its contents will affect my body is one big change I have made since starting on Precision Nutrition at Energie on September 15, 2014.  Today, I mostly make choices that are lean, clean and fresh.  These choices are expensive and I’m worth it. I have decided to cook more, and to cook creatively with vegetables.  My body can digest this food more easily and it naturally fuels my body without extra, unnecessary calories.  I consider my portion, a fist full of protein at every meal and I drink 8-12 glasses of water a day.  YES- water makes a positive difference in your skin, your weight loss and your waste removal.  A fantastic book which has provided great insight to my nutrition is CRAZY SEXY DIET- Thank you Marcy for this book.  I highly recommend it, but rest assured I have only implemented what I feel will work for me.  You don’t have to adopt all of Kris Carr’s philosophies, (they are hard core) only those that you like.  Note to self: change takes time and give self the opportunity to experiment with variables.  When you slip, make a correction and redirect self to get back on track.  “Don’t give up, get back on.”

Since beginning my Precision Nutrition Lean Program I have shifted my focus to getting healthy inside -out.  It’s got to be like this.  I sleep more, about 7 hours a night, and I move every day.  We have to move more than we eat.  Even if we take a walk, that counts.  Lately my workout program looks like this:

Monday: Demi Bar Pilates with either Sheila, Tammi or Molly

Tuesday: Treadmill run/intervals and squats

Wednesday: Tabata with Sandra

Thursday: Pilates or treadmill routine

Friday: Muscle activation with Maura and add walk/run

Saturday: Treadmill routine and squats

Sunday: Walk outdoors

All teachers are certified, qualified and bonafide! :)))

My balance comes in the form of listening to my body, and being selective with whom and how I spend my day.  I can say “no thank you,” and not feel badly that I am not allowing myself to overload my responsibilities.  We all have the same 24 hours to spend in a day, it’s up to each of us to prioritize those hours.

The result: Since last September, I have lost and kept off 14 pounds. All this shift in lifestyle through the holidays, 7 trips, sickness, flooding, birthdays, weddings, vacations and parties where cocktails are prevalent.  Wine is my choice, and as Jill my nutrition coach says, staying lean means being clean 90 percent of the time.  We are allowed that 10 percent to go off program a little.          Personally, I have 9 pounds more to lose, and while the past 5 weeks I am frustrated about the the pound that just keeps going up and down, I am satisfied that my lifestyle change has me truly living a healthier way.  Remember, if you sincerely want change in your life, you must do something differently.  You can’t keep doing the same thing and get different results, and why would you?

The aforementioned is a thumbnail sketch of my wellness improvements, but there is so much more to share.  Since I am so enthusiastic and kefi-nated about our community being the most energized sexy people possible, I will briefly mention additional tools that have aided me in my KEFI positive energy shift:
