Thank God For Great Role Models
Spring Break 16 has me challenged and tempted.
Coming off of 5 hours of sleep last night, nutrition not up to the standard of what I’ve been accustomed to, and unusual circumstances, my challenge this morning was- do I stay in bed and get sleep, grab a muffin later, or wake up get the Energize Drink made, stay on program and get my assigned cycling for Bike The West training done?
THANKFULLY I HAD A FEW HELPERS
This morning the first good helper I had was my internal alarm clock, which told me to WAKE UP! My second helper was my little voice that reminded me of my 12 week personally designed training for Bike The West, which is created with workouts building on each other. My third, and most powerful helper, was and remains, my excellent role models in fitness: Lisa, Jill and Sara!
These dynamos, they are also coaches of the highest caliber, each worked with me at one point or another, Jill is still working with me- I can use all the help I can get, to help me achieve fitness and wellness. Lisa, Jill and Sara each have a distinctively different style and method of training, but they each share the most important quality in training and that is mental toughness and hardcore discipline. YES- they each taught me to perservere with vigilance, reject the chatter and be stronger than I used to be. This morning, when I was about to bog out on my workout for the mere reason of interruption ( I am on vacation too) I thought of what each of these coaches/women who I admire, would do in my circumstance, and the answer in my head was unanimous, get up and do the workout! No excuses and no whining.”You never regret a workout, if you skip, it throws off everything, use your mental to amp up your game and life isn’t supposed to go backwards on vacation or holiday.”
SEEK THE BEST AND YOU WILL BECOME THE BEST
So, this morning I feel accomplished, even though my workout was not perfect and I had to make some modifications, it’s done. I am grateful that I have excellent role models who take me seriously and do not let me off the hook. Lisa, Jill and Sara each would have not even contemplated the thought of skipping the assigned workout (for training) they would each get up and do their job. No drama, no bid deal and no questions.
I salute these fabulous ladies who teach us to perservere through their actions.
Love you gals, and for the rest of the world, seek the best and hopefully the best will teach you by example to become the best version of YOU!!!!
