It’s true, DOG is man’s best friend- and woman’s!

Every day we face one thing or another, and it’s nice to have ways to de-stress.

My favorite ways to rid myself of stress:

  • Massage
  • Read
  • Sit by a lit fireplace
  • Visit with a true friend who can lend an ear
  • Workout
  • Walk the beach for hours
  • Collect shells
  • Head over to a little cafe and sip on an espresso
  • Find new ways to cook a vegetable

Walks with my beautiful, loving and playful black lab are the most relaxing, joyful and fun ways for me to release stress from my mind and body.  When Athena and I head out to tool around town, we begin with smelling the air.  We each breathe in deeply and energize via fresh oxygen; then we set out on our adventure.  Athena wants to sniff out the goods in the grass, and I love to bump into neighbors and friends.  Usually, I meet someone new and we chat for a few.  Just last week, I met Terri, a new neighbor who has been away living in London for the past few years.  It was fun to first hand learn hear her overseas experiences beginning with how the English go about their “day to day.”  People in London call each other mates, and no matter what the weather is, usually damp or 50 degrees, they say it’s a good day! When they say “Pardon me,” it’s because they passed gas, not because they bumped into you.  English people tend to be even tempered and friendly. See, you learn something new when you de-stress with your favorite dog.

My route with Athena is most of the time a 2-3 mile radius of my home, and we almost always hit the park where I throw out balls for her to fetch.  She LOVES FETCH!  Athena knows the neighborhood, and when she sees me heading back towards home, she stops and stares me down.  Her body language indicates that time has elapsed too quickly and she needs more.  The great outdoors does us both wonders, and I am ever so grateful to have a friend that joins me anytime day or night for a bit of “fun and chill.”  Really, its a huge bonus to have a pleasant and easygoing De-stressor pal like Athena.

Hope you have a De-stressor that allows you some relief from time to time.
