Life Is Beautiful

This morning my daughter Kathryn asked me if I wanted to do Yoga Sculpt with her over at Core Power. I have never done this form of fitness, so I knew I should at least sample it for my memory bank.  However, at the beginning of the class something electric happened: I was reminded that life is beautiful, and I was hooked on the feeling of Yoga Sculpt.

Elegant, fit and strong minded/ strong bodied; Kate the instructor displayed a first impression, which was pure energy! Her body long, lean and fit, her personality friendly and engaging; Kate was my kind of teacher. She started off the class with optimistic affirmations speaking of strength, breath and intentions.  We were to each set our intention at the start of the class and follow suit, no exceptions. I liked this because it was setting us up for success during the class.

A packed class, we began with the warm up, which included moving all moving parts of our body in a flowing position, never stopping with one lift leading into the next. Much of the time our arms and head pointed upward towards the ceiling (sky) and it felt exhilarating to be looking up -not down !

Next, we grabed light weights and combined yoga moves, which opened our airwaves and loosened up all of us.  These moves combined with plyo metrics and light weights had every person sweating to the core!  If felt like we were “spilling” all the junk out of our system and filling up on freshness and vitality.  The fact that we could move, feel energized, release toxins, sweat the fat out and have fun all in one, reaffirmed that if you have health and wellness- “Life is beautiful.”  One must never take health for granted, it’s a real gift and miracle to use your body with efficiency and ease.  Although Kate reminded us that progress & improvement “takes time,”  and we must not quit.  Everything takes time and that was my take away, start-keep going and give your intentions and goals are achieved slowly.  Anything worthwhile takes time- and eventually we arrive at the destination.

I’m happy I tried something new today, and further more I’m even more grateful that the people involved in my new adventure at Core Power Yoga are positive, bright and likeminded in Kefi!  I think that’s the key- surround yourself with those you like and those who make you better- mentally, Physically and spiritually.
