Happy Day!

I don’t know anyone on the face of the earth who doesn’t want to feel good. Living fully and feeling good has quite a bit to do with physical wellness, and this requires work!

Generally speaking, we work on projects, we work on setting up dinner outings, we work on work, but at times we forget to work on ourselves.

I think a good place to start is by listening to our body. What is it saying? Where are the aches and pains, how is the sleep 😴, how is our posture, do we have energy, are we irritable, and so on. Our mind and body are in sync with each other. Our body will tell us everything, and it will in all circumstances fight to maintain balance or homeostasis.

The ability of a system or living organism to adjust its internal environment to maintain a state of dynamic constancy.

I WANT HOMEOSTASIS!!!! So I do everything in my power to get it.

I eat clean, I avoid pills, I daily use therapeutic grade essential oils, occasionally I drink wine, I daily move with purpose, I smile, I take vitamins, I forgive, I give, I spend quality time with family, I have lots of fun, and when something in my body hurts- I TAKE ACTION. In the case of my neck strain and knots under my rotator cuff, I engage in massage!

How does massage help? Mark Rapaport MD says, “We’re finding positive biological changes associated with a single massage session.

Benefits of massage according to MAYO CLINIC

Massage is generally considered part of complementary and alternative medicine. It’s increasingly being offered along with treatment of wide range of medical conditions. Studies of the benefits of massage demonstrate that it is an effective treatment for reducing stress, pain and muscle tension. Some studies have shown that massage is helpful for:

• Anxiety

• Digestive disorders

• Fibromyalgia

• Headaches

• Insomnia related to stress

• Myofascial pain syndrome

• Soft tissue strains or injuries

• Sports injuries

• Temporomandibular joint pain…

Or in my case, a nasty knot in my neck/shoulder.
